Joey Heatherton (once by immortalized by SCTV's Catherine O'Hara, aka Lola "I Love You Sammy Maudlin" Heatherton) remains on my All Time Heavy Rotation List in as far as the quintessential Shag is concerned. Some say I should have paid more attention to Jane Fonda's Klute, blown out in a Denman esque perfection. Whatever the case, and whomever the Shag, Joey's Shag, in it's Bleached Out Glory, is the one to Beat. In my opinion. Today is her birthday and so for that I have posted a "behind the scenes" of the Serta Mattress commercial, shot some time in the early 70's. I appreciate the little moments; the near maniacal brushing; the light though deft parting of the heavy (lush) bang...All part of the bigger drive to "get in the mood".
